USAG "Grip Series" Metric Tape Measure - 5m (approx 16')(981A 5x28) - USAG's top of the line Grip Series tape measure offers a premium and rugged automobile tire-like rubber casing and grip. The steel blade, coated in mylar for added resistance to wear and abrasion, comes with an extended width (19mm wide on the 3m model, 28mm wide on the 5m and 8m models) giving greater rigidity. The Multicatch end hook is secured to the tip of the blade with three rivets for greater pulling resistance. It has been shaped to allow the user to latch onto larger objects and take measurements in numerous orientations (from the side, overhead and below). Click on photos to enlarge.

I personally prefer metric tape measures for "general measurement". I find them easier to use since they eliminate the need and hassle of dealing with fractions (of an inch).
