Spax HCR-X Flat Head Exterior/Deck Screw - this new HCR-X coating offers 10 times higher corrosion protection in the neutral salt-spray fog test than is required by the standard for conventional yellow zinc coating, and has considerably higher surface hardness. This makes it ideal for outdoor use in structures such as decks, carports, pergolas, etc which are not directly exposed to the elements. The HCR-X coating is free from chromium-VI and therefore more eco-friendly to manufacture and use. For now, only the construction screws in sizes #8, #9 and #10 are available in HCR-X. Screws in the #12 and #14 ranges are still available with standard (green) HCR coating. For extreme exposures (non-structural) or use with Redwood or Cedar, stainless steel fasteners should still be used. Click on photos to enlarge. Customers picking up their orders at my NJ warehouse can take 15% off the online prices but will be required to pay NJ Sales tax unless a resale certificate is provided with your purchase. Orders over $2,000 (shipped to a single location) receive prepaid freight.
