Spax HCR-X Flat Head Exterior/Deck Screw - this new HCR-X coating offers 10 times higher corrosion protection in the neutral salt-spray fog test than is required by the standard for conventional yellow zinc coating, and has considerably higher surface hardness. This makes it ideal for outdoor use in structures such as decks, carports, pergolas, etc which are not directly exposed to the elements. The HCR-X coating is free from chromium-VI and therefore more eco-friendly to manufacture and use. For extreme exposures (non-structural) or use with Redwood or Cedar, stainless steel fasteners should still be used. Click on photos to enlarge.
